On completion of this team project it is evident from the studies used in support of the paper that Kangaroo mother care (KMC) facilitates positive breastfeeding outcomes for premature and low birthweight (LBW) infants. KMC also plays an important role in lactation sustainability and reinforces the maternal-infant bond formed in the womb. Throughout this team project I contributed to quality improvement, upheld my responsibilities and contributed evidence-based information to support our paper.  KMC is applicable to my future nursing practice with the focus towards mothers of preterm and LBW infants in the NICU who want to breast feed. With the knowledge gained from this project in my future practice I will be able to assist in the early implementation of KMC to promote breast milk expression, strengthen the maternal-infant bond while additionally promoting maternal confidence. This team project further enhanced my knowledge of the importance of evidence-based practice in nursing to facilitate and implement care practices that are most beneficial to patients. As a team member I discovered that I am very organized and communicate well in a team. Additionally, I am able to effectively initiate conversations that require mediation to resolve conflicts that arise.
